Visual Merchandising Display Plan Template
v2.0
Purpose. This template is used to plan, brief, install and review a visual merchandising display, window or promotional feature in any Marketplace store so that the display sells the product, meets the brief and is safe.
1.How to use this template
Complete one plan for each display before any stock or fixtures are moved. The plan is approved by the store manager and the Merchandise and Visual Merchandising Manager, then used as the installation brief and the review record. Attach the sketch or photo mock-up and the planogram reference.
2.Objective and audience
State what the display is for, which customer it is aimed at and which products and promotion it supports. Link the objective to the promotional calendar and the sales target for the feature.
3.Design
Describe the theme, colour palette, focal point, product grouping, props, signage and lighting. Follow the group's visual merchandising guidelines for brand colours, ticket formats and the height and reach rules for customer safety.
- Focal point at eye level
- Product grouped by colour, use or story
- Prices and promotion tickets visible from the aisle
- Props secured and no glass at floor level
- Lighting directed at the product, not the customer's eyes
4.Stock, fixtures and budget
List the products and quantities to be displayed, the fixtures and props required and the cost. Confirm stock availability in the stock and inventory register so the display does not sell out in the first two days.
5.Safety and installation
Identify manual handling, ladder work, electrical items and trip hazards in the installation and the controls for each. Installation will be done outside peak trading where possible with the area barricaded. Windows and mannequins will be secured to the fixture.
6.Review
Record sales of the featured products for the display period against the target, customer feedback, maintenance needed and the date the display comes down. Note what to repeat and what to change.
